If advised to perform a quiet line test the procedure is as follows;
- Insert a 'known good' (working) telephone into the hidden test port inside the master socket
- Dial 17070
- Press option 2 (quiet line test)
- Listen for noise ("pops", "buzzing", "clicks"); there should be silence
If the test shows that there IS noise on the line then the customer should contact the PSTN line supplier; this fault must be rectified first before escalating a broadband fault.
